BIO

Replicas is the musical project of Geoff Zalot with Steven H. Geoff grew up in the barren, lifeless Sonoran Desert of Phoenix while Steven grew up in the stark Tri-Cities area of Washington. They have both lived in Tacoma’s Lincoln District for the past many years.

The music is bass-driven, dark and moody, featuring the cold pulse of electronic drum machine rhythms while synths and guitar inhale and exhale in controlled synchronization. Restrained vocals fear to reveal the current of emotion beneath the audible. The lyrics refuse to allow you to sink below the surface of despair with no hope of a return to the light. Together, this is a darkness shining out of the gloom to burn the shadows from your soul. It has been said that while sounding like none of them, Replicas evokes an essence common to PiL’s ‘Second Edition,’ The Cure’s ‘Seventeen Seconds’ and Tones on Tail’s earliest releases.

Informed by exoteric and esoteric Western spiritual traditions, the music is ritually constructed, repetitive, hypnotic and captivating, and also considers the implications of technological developments and their effects on civilizations, individuals, and spirituality.

TECH RIDER

There are two people in the band. We run 2 synths, a drum machine, and vocals (first routed to an external effects unit) through our onstage mixer, reducing those seven inputs (six 1/4", one XLR) to two XLR inputs (R/L from our mixer). As a result, we send only those two XLR outs to the House, along with an XLR DI from the bass head. We also have one combo guitar amp to be mic'd, for a total of 4 XLRs sent to the House board.

We need two monitors, one for each band member, each with a full mix.

We have a video file on a USB drive that we like to project if the venue has a projector/computer available for this purpose.

We prefer to load onto the stage only once. If the venue's policy is to load on for sound check, completely unload (rather than backline), and then load back on for our set, we prefer to forego a sound check, load on for our set, and take a line check in lieu of a sound check.
